April 16 – May 2, 2017 – Lake Okeechobee Bass Fishing Report

The last couple of weeks here on Lake Okeechobee the fishing has been good. The winds have been from the East to South/East from 5 to 10 mph and in the afternoons it has been upwards of 20mph. The water temp has been in the upper 70’s. The water clarity is fair throughout lake with all the afternoon winds we’ve had.

The best bait is still shiners but the morning Swim Jig and Spinnerbait bite is picking up in the Kissimmee grass. The best color for me is all white for the Swim Jig and the Spinnerbait. When the morning bite is over I have been flipping a Black/Blue jig in the Pencil Reeds.

Good areas to fish are J&S, Kings Bar, The Kissimmee River, and the Lakeport area of the lake.

Please be careful running the Lake, the water is very low. You can check the water levels of Lake Okeechobee at www.okeechobeejust4bass.com. Here is a picture of a couple of fish that I caught this past week.
